Lutron Shade Resizing & Cut-Downs

Moved, remodeled or replaced your windows? Don't throw away a custom shade. We cut down and re-size Lutron shades to fit the new opening, and the motor, fabric and programming come with it.

When to resize

Resize your Lutron shades instead of replacing them

A Lutron shade is built to one exact measurement. When that measurement changes, resizing fits the shade you already own to the new size.

  • New impact windows with different openings
  • Remodel changed window or door widths
  • Moving shades to a new home
  • Inside-mount to outside-mount changes
  • Shade is too long and puddles at the sill
  • Shade is too wide for new trim or pockets
  • Combining or splitting shades across a window wall
  • Fabric damaged along one edge
How a Lutron cut-down works

Measured twice. Cut once.

  1. MeasureWe measure the new opening and the existing shade, and note the mount, brackets and pocket.
  2. RemoveWe take down the shade and record the drive, its addressing and its programming.
  3. Cut & rebuildWe cut the fabric, roller tube and hembar to size, finish the edges and re-attach the fabric square to the tube.
  4. Re-hang & re-limitWe re-install the shade, re-set its limits, restore presets and test it with your controls.

Resize vs. new: the real difference

Resizing keeps the parts that cost the most: the drive, the fabric and the control integration. A brand-new custom shade means re-ordering all of it, waiting on manufacturer lead times and then re-programming the system.

Searching "Lutron resize shades," "Lutron re-sizing" or "Lutron cut shade"? They're all the same job: tailoring a made-to-order Lutron shade to a new, smaller size. That's what this page is about.

Questions

Frequently asked

Can you cut down a Lutron shade?

Yes. Lutron cut-down and re-sizing is our specialty. We reduce the fabric width, cut the roller tube and hembar to match, rebuild the shade, then re-set the drive limits. Most Lutron roller shades can be made narrower, shorter, or both.

Can you make a Lutron shade bigger?

Width can't be added to existing fabric. If your new opening is larger, we can often reuse the drive and hardware with new fabric, or quote a new shade.

Will resizing affect my Lutron warranty?

Lutron's warranty terms exclude work done without Lutron's prior written consent. Resizing is usually best for shades that are out of warranty or no longer fit after a move or remodel. We'll go over this with you before we start.

How long does Lutron shade resizing take?

Simple width or drop reductions are often done in [X] days. Complex rebuilds take longer. We'll give you a timeline with your quote. [CONFIRM TURNAROUND]

Will the resized shade still work with my keypads and automation?

Yes. The drive and its addressing stay with the shade. After resizing we re-set the limits and confirm it still works with your keypads, remotes and RadioRA, HomeWorks, Caséta or third-party automation.

What about the fabric edges after cutting?

We finish cut edges to suit the fabric type and keep the fabric aligned, so the shade rolls straight and resists fraying.
